Chapter 49: Sañjaya’s Enumeration of the Pāṇḍava Coalition (पाण्डवसैन्यसमागम-वर्णनम्)
के स्विदेनं वारयन्ति युद्धाच्छाम्येति वा पुन: । निकृत्या कोपितं मन्दैर्धर्मज्ञ धर्मचारिणम्,युधिष्ठिर धर्मके ज्ञाता हैं और धर्मके आचरणमें सदा तत्पर रहते हैं। मेरे मन्दबुद्धि पुत्रोंने अपने कपट॒पूर्ण बर्तावसे उन्हें कुपित कर दिया है। वहाँ कौन-कौन ऐसे हैं, जो उन्हें बारंबार शान्त रहनेकी सलाह देकर युद्धसे रोकते हैं?
dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca |
ke svid enaṁ vārayanti yuddhāc chāmyeti vā punaḥ |
nikṛtyā kopitaṁ mandair dharmajñaṁ dharmacāriṇam ||
Dhṛtarāṣṭra disse: “Quem, de fato, o está refreando da guerra, instando-o repetidas vezes a manter-se calmo? Meus filhos, de entendimento obtuso, com sua conduta enganosa, provocaram aquele conhecedor do dharma e firme praticante da retidão. Quem ali continua a aconselhá-lo, vez após vez, a permanecer em paz e a desistir da batalha?”
