Sañjaya’s Envoy-Speech on Peace
अनेयस्याश्रेयसो दीर्घमन्यो- मित्रद्रुह: संजय पापबुद्धे: । सुतस्य राजा धृतराष्ट्र: प्रियेषी प्रपश्यमान: प्राजहाद् धर्मकामौ
sañjaya uvāca |
aneyasyāśreyaso dīrgham anyo-
mitradruhaḥ sañjaya pāpabuddheḥ |
sutasya rājā dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ priyeṣī
prapaśyamānaḥ prājahād dharmakāmau, sañjaya! |
Disse Sañjaya: Ó Sañjaya, o rei Dhṛtarāṣṭra—buscando o que é caro a seu filho de intenção pecaminosa, há muito perseguidor do que não é o verdadeiro bem e traidor de amigos—abandonou, embora veja claramente as consequências, tanto o dharma quanto o desejo legítimo. Ao favorecer Duryodhana, ele conscientemente deixa ruírem o dever e os fins disciplinados diante do apego e do erro.
