Sañjaya’s Envoy-Speech on Peace

मेधाविन हार्थकामं कुरूणां बहुश्रुतं वाग्मिनं शीलवन्तम्‌ । स तं राजा धृतराष्ट्र: कुरुभ्यो न सस्मार विदुरं पुत्रकाम्यात्‌

Transliteration

medhāvinaṃ hy arthakāmaṃ kurūṇāṃ bahuśrutaṃ vāgminaṃ śīlavantam | sa taṃ rājā dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ kurubhyo na sasmāra viduraṃ putrakāmyāt ||

Translation

Disse Sañjaya: Vidura era inteligente, devotado ao verdadeiro bem-estar dos Kurus, muito erudito, eloquente e de conduta exemplar. Contudo, o rei Dhṛtarāṣṭra, movido pelo anseio por seus filhos e pelo desejo de assegurar o que os Kauravas queriam, deixou de ouvir e honrar Vidura pelo bem da casa de Kuru.
