भीष्म-द्रोणादिभिः पाण्डवसेनाक्षयकाल-निर्णयः | Time-estimates for the depletion of the Pāṇḍava forces

तत्र ते पृथिवीपाला यथोत्साहं यथाबलम्‌ | विविशु: शिबिराण्यत्र द्रव्यवन्ति सहस्रश:,उन्हीं बहुमूल्य आवश्यक सामग्रियोंसे सम्पन्न हजारों छावनियोंमें वे भूपाल अपने बल और उत्साहके अनुरूप युद्धके लिये उद्यत होकर रहते थे

tatra te pṛthivīpālā yathotsāhaṃ yathābalam | viviśuḥ śibirāṇy atra dravyavanti sahasraśaḥ ||

Ali, aqueles reis, cada qual segundo o seu ardor e a sua força, entraram e se alojaram nos acampamentos—às milhares—bem providos de suprimentos necessários e valiosos, permanecendo prontos para a guerra. A cena evidencia como o poder mundano se organiza por meio de recursos e preparo, ao mesmo tempo que o conflito iminente levanta a questão de saber se tal mobilização está de acordo com o dharma.
