Bhishma’s Account of Parashurama’s Challenge and the March to Kurukshetra

अस्त्रैरेव महाबाहो चिकीर्षन्नधिकां क्रियाम्‌ इसके पश्चात्‌ प्रतापी परशुरामजीने मेरे ऊपर दिव्यास्त्रोंका प्रयोग आरम्भ किया; परंतु महाबाहो! मैंने उनसे भी अधिक पराक्रम प्रकट करनेकी इच्छा रखकर उन सब अस्त्रोंका दिव्यास्त्रोंद्ारा ही निवारण कर दिया

astrair eva mahābāho cikīrṣann adhikāṃ kriyām

Bhīṣma disse: “Ó poderoso de braços, depois disso Paraśurāma, ardendo em destreza, começou a empregar contra mim armas divinas (divyāstra). Contudo, desejando exibir valor ainda maior, enfrentei cada uma delas com armas divinas correspondentes e as anulei.”
