एवं तदभवद् युद्ध तदा भरतसत्तम । संध्याकाले व्यतीते तु व्यपायात् स च मे गुरु:,भरतभूषण! इस प्रकार वह युद्ध चलता रहा। संध्याकाल बीतनेपर मेरे गुरु रणभूमिसे हट गये
evaṃ tad abhavad yuddhaṃ tadā bharatasattama | sandhyākāle vyatīte tu vyapāyāt sa ca me guruḥ ||
Bhīṣma disse: “Assim prosseguiu aquela batalha, ó o melhor dos Bharatas. Mas, quando o crepúsculo da tarde passou, meu mestre também se retirou do campo de guerra, ó ornamento de Bharata.”
