राजवृत्त-रक्षा-प्रणिधि-षाड्गुण्योपदेशः

Royal Conduct, Protection, Intelligence, and Policy Measures

जो समस्त कार्योमें निपुण, अनायास ही कार्य-साधन करनेमें समर्थ, धर्ममय लोकोंमें जानेकी इच्छा रखनेवाला तथा दोषदृष्टिसे रहित हो, उस पुरुषको अपने देशके शासक नरेशकी निन्दाके काममें नहीं पड़ना चाहिये ।।

yo samasta-kāryeṣu nipuṇaḥ, anāyāsa eva kārya-sādhane samarthaḥ, dharmamayeṣu lokeṣu gantum icchāvān tathā doṣa-dṛṣṭi-rahitaḥ sa puruṣaḥ svadeśa-śāsaka-nareśa-nindā-kārye na pravarteta. na hi rājñaḥ pratīpāni kurvan sukham avāpnu yāt; putro bhrātā vayasyō vā yady apy ātma-samo bhavet—rājñe viparītam ācaran manuṣyaḥ sa putro bhrātā mitram athavā ātma-tulyaḥ kuto 'pi sukhaṁ na prāpnoti.

Disse Vasumanā: O homem competente em todos os deveres, capaz de realizar as tarefas com facilidade, desejoso de alcançar os mundos da retidão e livre de espírito de censura, não deve envolver-se no ofício de difamar o rei que governa a sua própria terra. Pois quem age em oposição ao rei não pode obter felicidade. Ainda que tal pessoa seja o filho do rei, seu irmão ou seu companheiro íntimo—sim, ainda que seja tão querido quanto a própria vida—ao comportar-se contra o rei, jamais alcançará o bem-estar.
