Yudhiṣṭhira’s Post-Accession Settlements and Approach to Vāsudeva (युधिष्ठिरस्य राज्यस्थापनं वासुदेवाभिगमनं च)
तथैवोपकश्रिता देवी बुद्धिर्बुद्धिमतां वर,जयं प्राप्ता यशश्वाग्र्यं न च धर्मच्युता वयम् । “बुद्धिमानोंमें श्रेष्ठ श्रीकृष्ण! बुद्धिदेवीने आपका आश्रय लिया है न? प्रभो! हमने आपकी ही कृपासे राज्य पाया है और यह पृथ्वी हमारे अधिकारमें आयी है। भगवन्! आप ही तीनों लोकोंके आश्रय और पराक्रम हैं। आपकी ही दयासे हमने विजय तथा उत्तम यश प्राप्त किये हैं और धर्मसे भ्रष्ट नहीं हुए हैं!
tathaivopakāśritā devī buddhir buddhimatāṁ vara, jayaṁ prāptā yaśaśvāgryaṁ na ca dharmac yutā vayam |
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Do mesmo modo, ó melhor entre os sábios, a deusa da Inteligência tomou refúgio em ti. Pela tua graça alcançámos a vitória e a mais alta fama, e não nos desviámos do dharma.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Victory and fame are ethically meaningful only when grounded in dharma; true success is attributed to taking refuge in higher wisdom and righteous guidance rather than mere power.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana reports a statement praising a supreme wise protector (understood in the received gloss as Kṛṣṇa): personified Intelligence is said to rely on him, and ‘we’ credit him for their victory, renown, and steadfastness in dharma.
