वयं त्वेनं न पश्यामो मोहितास्तस्य मायया । “जैसी बातचीत उन्होंने की थी, उससे हमें विश्वास हो गया था कि निश्चय ही यहाँ भगवान् पधारे हुए हैं, परंतु उन््हींकी मायासे मोहित होनेके कारण हम उन्हें देख नहीं पाते थे
vayaṁ tvenaṁ na paśyāmo mohitās tasya māyayā |
Bhīṣma disse: “No entanto, não O vemos, pois fomos iludidos por Sua māyā. Pelo modo como falou, convencemo-nos de que o Senhor de fato viera aqui; mas, confundidos por Seu próprio poder de ilusão, fomos incapazes de contemplá-Lo.”
भीष्म उवाच
Even when the divine is present, human perception can remain veiled by māyā—one may infer the Lord’s presence through signs (such as speech and conduct) yet still fail to directly perceive Him. The verse highlights humility and the ethical need to recognize the limits of ordinary cognition.
Bhishma reflects that they were convinced the Lord had come—based on what was said and how it was said—but they could not actually behold Him because they were bewildered by His own māyā, which conceals His true form from those not granted direct vision.
