जग्राह तां तदा शक्ति न चैनां स व्यकम्पयत् । भगवानके इस कथनको सहन न कर सकनेके कारण प्रह्नादने स्वयं ही उस शक्तिको उखाड़ फेंकनेका दृढ़ निश्चय कर लिया और उस शक्तिको पकड़कर खींचा; परंतु वे उसे हिला भी न सके
jagrāha tāṁ tadā śaktiṁ na caināṁ sa vyakampayat |
Bhishma disse: Então ele agarrou aquela lança, mas não conseguiu fazê-la tremer nem um pouco. Incapaz de suportar as palavras do Senhor, Prahlada decidiu arrancar a arma por sua própria força; segurou-a e puxou com firme determinação, mas ela não cedeu. O episódio ressalta o contraste ético entre a força bruta e o poder superior do decreto divino: quando um ato se opõe à vontade do Senhor, a potência física por si só se mostra ineficaz.
