Saṃhāra-krama (The Sequence of Cosmic Dissolution) — Yājñavalkya’s Discourse
bhīṣma uvāca | praveśyātmani cātmānaṃ yogī tiṣṭhati yo 'calaḥ | pāpaṃ hanti punītānāṃ padam āpnoti so 'jaram ||
Steady meditative absorption—merging the individual self into the inner Self—purifies one from sin and leads to the imperishable goal attained by the purified.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhishma teaches Yudhishthira about yogic steadiness and its ethical-spiritual fruit: purification and attainment of the deathless state.
