युक्तोडपि नित्यधर्मश्न न वै स्वर्गमवाप्स्यसि । उस बातको समझकर मामा नारदजी भी कुपित हो उठे और उन्होंने अपने भानजे पर्वतको शाप देते हुए कहा--“अरे! तू तपस्या, ब्रह्मचर्य, सत्य और इन्द्रिय-संयमसे युक्त एवं नित्य धर्मपरायण होनेपर भी स्वर्गलोकमें नहीं जा सकेगा"

«Ainda que sejas disciplinado e sempre conhecedor do dharma, não alcançarás o céu.» Ao compreender isso, Nārada—tratado como “tio materno”—encheu-se de ira e, amaldiçoando Parvata, o filho de sua irmã, declarou: «Ei! Ainda que estejas dotado de austeridade, brahmacarya, veracidade e domínio dos sentidos, e ainda que sejas constantemente devotado ao dever, não conseguirás ir ao mundo celeste.»
