Sāṃkhya–Yoga Distinction and Instruction on Yogic Strength
आनतेनाथ शूलेन पाणिनामिततेजसा । पिनाकमिति चोवाच शूलमुग्रायुध: प्रभु:,जब अमित तेजस्वी शूल उनके हाथसे मुड़कर धनुषके रूपमें परिणत हो गया, तब उग्र धनुर्धर भगवान् शिवने पाणिसे आनत होनेके कारण उस शूलको 'पिनाक' कहा
ānatena atha śūlena pāṇināmitatejasā | pinākam iti covāca śūlam ugrāyudhaḥ prabhuḥ ||
Bhīṣma disse: Então, quando aquele tridente—curvado pela mão do Senhor de esplendor incomensurável—se transformou na forma de um arco, o poderoso Śiva, senhor de armas terríveis, chamou esse tridente de “Pināka”, porque fora feito inclinar-se (ānata) por sua mão. O episódio ressalta como o poder divino pode redirecionar até um instrumento de destruição para uma forma disciplinada e com propósito, e como os nomes preservam a memória ética de um ato.
