Adhyāya 283: Varṇa-vṛtti, Nyāya-ārjana, and the Decline-and-Restoration of Dharma (वर्णवृत्तिः न्यायार्जनं च)

जरायुजाण्डजाश्वैव सहसा स्वेदजोद्धिजै: । ये तथा और भी बहुत-से चतुर्विध प्राणिसमुदाय जरायुज, अण्डज, स्वेदज और उद्भिज्ज वहाँ उपस्थित हुए थे

jarāyujāṇḍajāś caiva sahasā svedajodbhijaiḥ | ye tathā cāpare bahavaś caturvidha-prāṇi-samudāyā jarāyujā aṇḍajāḥ svedajā ud्भिजjāś ca tatra samupasthitā āsan ||

Vaiśampāyana disse: Ali também estavam presentes, de uma só vez, as quatro classes de seres vivos—os nascidos do ventre, os nascidos do ovo, os nascidos do suor ou da umidade, e os que brotam da terra—junto de muitos outros grupos semelhantes. A narração ressalta a vasta e inclusiva ordem da vida, na qual todo modo de nascimento se reúne dentro de um único cosmos moral.
