आस्थाय मृगरूपं वै खमेवाभ्यगमत् तदा । नरेश्वर! इस प्रकार जब सब ओरसे आघात होने लगा, तब वह यज्ञ मृगका रूप धारण करके आकाशकी ओर ही भाग चला
āsthāya mṛgarūpaṃ vai kham evābhyagamat tadā | nareśvara! isa prakāra jab sab orase āghāta hone lagā, tab vaha yajña mṛga kā rūpa dhāraṇa karke ākāśa kī ora hī bhāga calā |
Bhīṣma disse: “Então, assumindo a forma de um cervo, ele fugiu diretamente para o céu. Ó rei! Quando golpes e ataques começaram a vir de todos os lados, aquele cervo sacrificial tomou sua forma de cervo e escapou para o alto, rumo às regiões celestes.”
भीष्म उवाच
When harm arises from all sides, dharma may require protecting life and withdrawing from destructive conflict; ritual or social claims should not become a pretext for violence.
Under attack from every direction, the sacrificial deer assumes its deer-form and escapes upward into the sky, as Bhīṣma narrates this episode to the king.
