सर्वाण्येतानि संवार्य द्वाराणि मनसि स्थित: । मनस्येकाग्रतां कृत्वा तत्परं प्रतिपद्यते,समस्त इन्द्रियोंको रोककर संकल्पमात्रसे मनमें स्थित हो उन सबको हृदयमें एकत्र करके साधक उससे भी परे विद्यमान परमात्माको प्राप्त कर लेता है
sarvāṇy etāni saṃvārya dvārāṇi manasi sthitaḥ | manasy ekāgratāṃ kṛtvā tat-paraṃ pratipadyate ||
Bhīṣma disse: Tendo refreado todos esses portais (os sentidos) e permanecendo na mente, deve-se recolher a mente numa concentração de um só ponto. Quando as faculdades assim se reúnem no coração e o buscador se torna inteiramente voltado para Aquilo, ele alcança o Supremo Si mesmo, que está além de todas elas.
भीष्म उवाच
Restrain the senses (the mind’s outward ‘gates’), establish the mind in one-pointed concentration, and direct oneself wholly toward the Supreme; such inwardly gathered discipline leads to realization of the Self beyond the senses.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhishma continues his counsel by describing an inner yogic method: withdrawing the senses, collecting the mind, and attaining the Supreme through focused contemplation.
