कपोती-विलापः स्वर्गसंयोगश्च

The Dove’s Lament and Celestial Reunion

पापात्मा पापकारित्वात्‌ पापमेव चकार स: । वह पापात्मा व्याध यद्यपि स्वयं भी बड़े कष्टमें था तो भी उसने उस कबूतरीको उठाकर पिंजड़ेमें डाल लिया। स्वयं दुःखसे पीड़ित होनेपर भी उसने दूसरे प्राणीको दुःख ही पहुँचाया। सदा पापमें ही प्रवृत्त रहनेके कारण उस पापात्माने उस समय भी पाप ही किया

pāpātmā pāpakāritvāt pāpam eva cakāra saḥ |

Bhishma disse: Por ser de natureza pecaminosa e acostumado ao mal, ele só praticou pecado. Embora o caçador estivesse ele próprio em grande aflição, ainda assim agarrou a pomba e a trancou numa gaiola; mesmo sofrendo, fez sofrer outro ser. Sempre inclinado ao pecado, aquele homem perverso escolheu o pecado até naquele momento.
