व्यवसायं समाधाय सूर्यो रश्मीनिवायतान् | धर्ममेवाभिरक्षेत कृत्वा तुल्ये प्रियाप्रिये
vyavasāyaṃ samādhāya sūryo raśmīn ivāyatān | dharmam evābhirakṣeta kṛtvā tulye priyāpriye ||
Disse Bhīṣma: Tendo firmado sua determinação—como o sol que estende seus raios ao longe—o rei deve proteger somente o dharma, tratando como iguais o que lhe é caro e o que lhe desagrada. Com esforço constante e imparcialidade, deve sustentar a retidão como dever supremo, resguardando a todos sem se deixar mover por gostos ou aversões pessoais.
