Duryodhana’s Post-Duel Lament and Instructions (भग्नसक्थस्य विलापः)
पुत्रशोकाभिसंतप्त॑ बुद्धिव्याकुलितेन्द्रियम् । “आप पुत्रशोकसे सर्वथा संतप्त हैं। आपकी बुद्धि और इन्द्रियाँ शोकसे व्याकुल हैं। ऐसी दशामें वे अत्यन्त लज्जित होनेके कारण आपके सामने नहीं आ रहे हैं!
putraśokābhisantaptaṁ buddhivyākulitendriyam |
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Estás totalmente consumido pela dor por teu filho; teu entendimento e teus sentidos estão em tumulto por causa do pesar. Em tal condição, eles não vêm à tua presença, dominados pela vergonha.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Overwhelming grief disrupts discernment and the senses; in such a state, social and moral emotions like shame can prevent people from approaching or speaking openly, highlighting the need for steadiness of mind in crisis.
Vaiśampāyana describes a person (addressed as ‘you’) as devastated by the loss of a son, mentally unsettled, and therefore not being approached by others who feel intense shame in that situation.
