Kārttikeya-Abhiṣecana: Mātṛgaṇa-Nāma Saṃkīrtana and Skanda’s Commission

प्रददौ कार्तिकेयाय वायुर्भरतसत्तम । भरतश्रेष्ठ! वायु देवताने कृत्तिकाकुमारको महान्‌ बलशाली एवं विशाल मुखवाले बल और अतिबल नामक दो सेवक प्रदान किये || ४४ $ ।।

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

pradadau kārtikeyāya vāyur bharatasattama |

yamaṃ cātiyamaṃ caiva timivaktrau mahābalau |

rudrair vasubhir ādityair aśvibhyāṃ ca vṛtaḥ prabhuḥ ||

Vaiśaṃpāyana disse: Ó melhor dos Bharatas, Vāyu concedeu a Kārttikeya dois poderosos assistentes—Yama e Atiyama—ambos de grande força e com rostos formidáveis, semelhantes ao de uma baleia. Então o glorioso Senhor (Skanda) permaneceu cercado pelos Rudras, pelos Vasus, pelos Ādityas e pelos gêmeos Aśvins. A passagem ressalta que o poder divino não é mera proeza pessoal, mas uma ordem cósmica sancionada: os deuses, em conjunto, confirmam a autoridade de Skanda e sua capacidade de sustentar o dharma por meio de força disciplinada.
