विनदत्सु च योधेषु शड्खवर्य श्व पूरितै: । उत्क्ुष्टे: सिंहनादैश्व गर्जितिश्वव धन्विनाम्
sañjaya uvāca |
vinadatsu ca yodheṣu śaṅkhavaryaiḥ sva-pūritaiḥ |
utkruṣṭaiḥ siṃhanādaiś ca garjitaiś ca dhanvinām ||
Disse Sañjaya: Quando os guerreiros bradavam e as excelentes conchas, sopradas com toda a força, ressoavam, o campo de batalha inchou de aclamações de triunfo, de rugidos de leão e do estrépito trovejante dos arqueiros. Nesse instante, a luta ultrapassou os limites do que é devido e tornou-se um morticínio sem freio, rompendo todas as fronteiras; e começaram a surgir terríveis presságios, anunciadores da ruína.
