वत्से शोको न ते कार्य: प्राप्येदं व्यसनं महत् । स्त्रीधर्माणामभिज्ञासि शीलाचारवती तथा
vatse śoko na te kāryaḥ prāpya idaṃ vyasanaṃ mahat | strīdharmāṇām abhijñāsi śīlācāravatī tathā ||
“Minha filha, não deves entregar-te ao luto, mesmo após te teres deparado com esta grande desventura. Tu conheces os deveres próprios das mulheres e és também guardiã do bom caráter e da reta conduta.”
वैशमग्पायन उवाच
The verse counsels restraint in sorrow during crisis, grounding emotional steadiness in dharma: one who knows proper duties and maintains good conduct should not be overwhelmed by misfortune.
Vaiśaṃpāyana addresses a young woman as “daughter,” consoling her after a major calamity and affirming her knowledge of strīdharma and her established good character, urging her not to succumb to grief.
