अक्षदेवन-प्रवर्तनम् | Commencement of the Dice Game
अभ्यषिज्चत् ततो धौम्यो व्यासश्न सुमहातपा: । नारदं च पुरस्कृत्य देवलं चासितं मुनिम्,तदनन्तर धौम्य तथा महातपस्वी व्यासने देवर्षि नारद, देवल और असित मुनिको आगे करके युधिष्ठिरका अभिषेक किया
abhyasiñcat tato dhaumyo vyāsaś ca sumahātapāḥ | nāradaṃ ca puraskṛtya devalaṃ cāsitaṃ munim ||
Então Dhaumya, juntamente com o grande asceta Vyāsa, realizou a consagração. Colocando o sábio divino Nārada à frente—com Devala e o muni Asita—procederam a ungir Yudhiṣṭhira. A cena ressalta que a autoridade régia é publicamente alicerçada na sanção védico-ascética e no testemunho de videntes veneráveis, não apenas no poder ou na ambição.
