Maya’s Construction of the Assembly Hall
॥! । ५ ॥ ८7 ऋ# पद्मसौगन्धिकवतीं नानाद्विजगणायुताम् | पुष्पितै: पड़कजैश्षित्रां कूर्मैर्मत्स्यैश्न काउचनै: । चित्रस्फटिकसोपानां निष्पड़कसलिलां शुभाम्,उसमें पद्मरागमणिमय कमलोंकी मनोहर सुगंध छा रही थी। अनेक प्रकारके पक्षी उसमें रहते थे। खिले हुए कमलों और सुनहली मछलियों तथा कछुओंसे उसकी विचित्र शोभा हो रही थी। उस पोखरीमें उतरनेके लिये स्फटिकमणिकी विचित्र सीढ़ियाँ बनी थीं। उसमें पंकरहित स्वच्छ जल भरा हुआ था। वह देखनेमें बड़ी सुन्दर थी

Disse Vaiśampāyana: O lago estava cheio do perfume dos lótus e apinhado de bandos de aves de muitos tipos. Sua beleza tornava-se variada pelos lótus em flor, pelas tartarugas e pelos peixes de tonalidade dourada. Havia maravilhosos degraus de cristal para descer até ele, e a água era límpida, sem lama—um espetáculo auspicioso e encantador.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how prosperity and beauty can signify auspicious order, yet in the larger Sabha narrative such magnificence also becomes a setting where ethical vigilance is required—splendor should be governed by dharma, not by pride, envy, or attachment.
Vaiśampāyana is describing a magnificent, palace-like pond: fragrant with lotuses, crowded with birds, adorned with blooming lotuses, turtles, and golden fish, and fitted with crystal steps leading into clear, mud-free water.
