मयस्य प्रतिकृतिः — Maya’s Offer and the Commissioning of the Sabhā
अभिप्रायेण पार्थानां कृष्णस्य च महात्मन: । पुण्ये5हनि महातेजा: कृतकौतुकमड्ल:ः
abhiprāyeṇa pārthānāṃ kṛṣṇasya ca mahātmanaḥ | puṇye 'hani mahātejāḥ kṛtakautukamaṅgalaḥ ||
Disse Vaiśampāyana: De acordo com o desejo dos Pāṇḍavas e do magnânimo Kṛṣṇa, o radiante Maya decidiu construir o salão de assembleia. Num dia auspicioso, após realizar os ritos costumeiros—bênçãos, recitações de bom augúrio e outras observâncias propiciatórias—honrou e satisfez milhares de brāhmaṇas eminentes com oferendas e dádivas. Em seguida, pôs-se a medir o terreno encantador, de feição divina, digno de reunir as excelências de todas as estações, para ali assentar o salão real.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Major undertakings should begin in harmony with right intention and proper order: aligning with wise counsel, choosing auspicious timing, and honoring dharma through hospitality and generosity. The verse highlights that power and achievement are to be grounded in ritual propriety and respect for the learned.
Maya, acting according to the wishes of the Pāṇḍavas and Kṛṣṇa, initiates the building of the grand assembly hall. He begins on an auspicious day with ceremonial rites and by honoring brāhmaṇas, then proceeds to prepare and measure the site for construction.
