Arjuna’s evacuation of Dvārakā, Vasudeva’s rites, and the caravan’s crisis

Educational Q&A

Vyāsa frames the impending course of action as śreyas—the highest welfare—implying that true good may lie not in prolonging worldly arrangements but in accepting the destined transition and moving toward the supreme end (parama gati), i.e., spiritual fulfillment and release.

In the Mausala Parva’s closing atmosphere, Vyāsa addresses a Bharata leader and urges acceptance of the decisive moment: the time has come for them to proceed toward their ultimate destiny. The counsel signals an ethical turning point from worldly governance to the final journey and higher aim.
