Vasudeva–Arjuna Dialogue in the Aftermath of Dvārakā
The verse highlights the ethical weight of dharma in times of collapse: even a hero like Arjuna is shaken by calamity, yet must still respond with duty and right action. It frames grief not as weakness but as a truthful recognition of impermanence and responsibility.
After Vasudeva (Arjuna’s maternal uncle) speaks to him, Arjuna becomes deeply distressed and, with a sorrowful expression, begins to reply to Vasudeva. This sets up the ensuing account of the Yādavas’ end and the practical duties that follow.
