शरार्चिषं गाण्डिवचारुमण्डलं युगान्तसूर्यप्रतिमानतेजसम् । न कौरवा: शेकुरुदीक्षितुं जयं यथा रविं व्याधितचक्षुषो जना:
śarārciṣaṃ gāṇḍīva-cāru-maṇḍalaṃ yugānta-sūrya-pratimāna-tejasam | na kauravāḥ śekur udīkṣituṃ jayaṃ yathā raviṃ vyādhita-cakṣuṣo janāḥ ||
Karna disse: “Arjuna parecia arder como o sol no fim de uma era. Suas flechas faiscavam como correntes de raios em todas as direções, e seu Gāṇḍīva retesado parecia o belo disco do sol. Assim como pessoas de olhos doentes não conseguem fitar o sol, assim os Kauravas não puderam olhar para Arjuna—vencidos pelo fulgor de sua proeza e pela certeza de sua vitória.”
