सा निर्भिद्य भुजं सव्यं पाण्डवस्य महात्मन:,निपपात तदा भूमौ यथा विद्युन्नभश्ष्युता । आकाशसे गिरी हुई बिजलीके समान वह शक्ति महामनस्वी पाण्डुपुत्र भीमसेनकी बायीं भुजाको विदीर्ण करके तत्काल भूमिपर गिर पड़ी

Transliteration

sā nirbhidya bhujaṃ savyaṃ pāṇḍavasya mahātmanaḥ, nipapāta tadā bhūmau yathā vidyunnabhaścyutā |

Translation

Disse Sañjaya: Aquela lança, tendo perfurado o braço esquerdo do magnânimo Pāṇḍava, caiu de imediato ao chão—como um relâmpago que despenca do céu. A cena realça a brutal imediaticidade da guerra: até os mais poderosos guerreiros estão sujeitos a ferimentos súbitos, e o campo de batalha pode virar com um único golpe, fatal e decisivo.
