Shloka 3

त॑ यान्तमश्वैर्हिमशड्खवर्ण: सुवर्णमुक्तामणिजालनद्धैः । जम्भं जिघांसुं प्रगृहीतवज्॑ जयाय देवेन्द्रमिवोग्रमन्युम्‌,जैसे देवराज इन्द्र हाथमें वज्ञ लेकर जम्भासुरको मार डालनेकी इच्छासे मनमें भयानक क्रोध भरकर चले थे, उसी प्रकार अर्जुन भी शत्रुओंको जीतनेके लिये भयंकर क्रोधसे युक्त हो सुवर्ण, मुक्ता और मणियोंके जालसे आबद्ध हुए हिम और शंखके समान श्वैत कान्तिवाले अश्रोंद्वारा यात्रा कर रहे थे। उस समय क्रोधमें भरे हुए शत्रुपक्षके पुरुषसिंह वीर, रथी, घुड़सवार, हाथीसवार और पैदलोंके समूह अपने बाणोंकी सनसनाहट, पहियोंकी घर्घराहट तथा टापोंके टप-टपकी आवाजसे सम्पूर्ण दिशाओं और पृथ्वीको प्रतिध्वनित करते हुए अर्जुनका सामना करनेके लिये आगे बढ़े

taṁ yāntam aśvair himaśaṅkhavarṇaḥ suvarṇamuktāmaṇijālanaddhaiḥ | jambhaṁ jighāṁsuṁ pragṛhītavajraṁ jayāya devendram ivogramanyum ||

Sañjaya disse: Quando Arjuna avançou, seu carro era puxado por cavalos brancos como a neve e como a concha, com arreios presos por uma rede de ouro, pérolas e gemas. Ele parecia Devendra Indra—com o vajra na mão—indo para matar Jambha. Assim também Arjuna, decidido a vencer os inimigos, prosseguiu tomado por uma cólera feroz e terrível.
