Educational Q&A

The verse highlights kṣatriya resolve: when duty calls, a warrior sets aside fear and personal attachment (prāṇa-moha) and acts with full commitment. Bhīma’s ‘wind-like’ imagery underscores disciplined energy directed toward a chosen dharmic aim—protecting his side and fulfilling his role in the war.

Sañjaya describes Bhīma’s sudden, forceful advance on the battlefield. Compared repeatedly to the Wind in speed and power, Bhīma ranges through the field and begins to crush the Kaurava forces, stirred by the situation involving the sons of Pṛthā (the Pāṇḍavas).
