Karna’s Suppression of the Panchala–Somaka Forces
The verse highlights how, in war, intention (jighāṃsā—desire to kill) and speed can eclipse restraint; it implicitly raises the ethical tension between kṣatriya battle-duty and the moral cost of pursuing slaughter as an aim.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Kaurava elite warriors, mirroring the opposing movement, rapidly charge toward the Pāṇḍava battle-host with the purpose of destroying it.
