Arjuna Breaks the Encirclement; Bhīma Reinforces
तीक्ष्णैरग्निरविप्रख्यैर्नाराचैर्द शभिहत: । “देखो, भीमसेनने गरजते हुए निषादपुत्रकी तोमरसहित दोनों भुजाओंको काट दिया और अग्नि एवं सूर्यके समान तेजस्वी दस तीखे नाराचोंद्वारा उसे मार डाला
sañjaya uvāca |
tīkṣṇair agnir-aviprakhyair nārācair daśabhir hataḥ |
Disse Sañjaya: Ele foi morto por dez flechas nārāca, afiadas como lâminas, ardentes como o fogo e de brilho inconfundível. No tumulto da batalha, Bhīmasena—rugindo—decepou ambos os braços do filho do Niṣāda junto com o seu tomara, e então o rematou com aqueles dardos ígneos, semelhantes ao sol.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the grim ethic of battlefield duty (kṣatriya-dharma): in war, decisive action and martial superiority determine outcomes, often overriding ordinary compassion. It also reflects how rage and momentum in combat can lead to swift, irreversible destruction.
Sañjaya reports that Bhīma, roaring in battle, cuts off both arms of a Niṣāda’s son (who bears a tomara) and then kills him with ten sharp nārāca arrows described as blazing like fire and radiant like the sun.
