In the ethics of kṣatriya-dharma, courage is paired with control: charging forward shows valor, while meeting and restraining an opponent’s advance shows disciplined martial responsibility. The verse highlights that effective resistance can be as decisive as aggressive attack.
Nakula and Sahadeva rush into the fight, but Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s son confronts them and halts their advance by unleashing a dense volley of arrows, forcing them to check their momentum.
