कर्णवधार्थं धनञ्जयस्य प्रतिज्ञा — Arjuna’s resolve for Karṇa’s defeat

निग्रहीतुमुपाक्रामन्‌ क्रोधाविष्टा: समन्तत: । माननीय नरेश! क्रोधमें भरे हुए संशप्तकोंने सब ओरसे आक्रमण करके अर्जुनके रथके घोड़ों, दोनों पहियों तथा ईषादण्डको भी पकड़ना आरम्भ किया ।। निगृहा तं रथं तस्य योधास्ते तु सहस्रश:

sañjaya uvāca |

nigrahītum upākrāman krodhāviṣṭāḥ samantataḥ |

nigṛhya taṁ rathaṁ tasya yodhās te tu sahasraśaḥ ||

Sañjaya disse: Tomados pela ira, avançaram de todos os lados para capturá-lo e contê-lo. Aqueles guerreiros, aos milhares, cerraram-se sobre sua carruagem, tentando refreá-la—agarrando-lhe o movimento e o comando—para que o avanço de Arjuna fosse detido pela pura força e fúria.
