निकृत्तचाप: समरेडनपेक्ष: पराजित: शान्तनवेन चाजौ । विहाय बन्धूनथ सोदरांश्न क्व यास्यसे नानुरूपं तवेदम्‌,'युद्धमें शान्तनुनन्दन भीष्मने तुम्हारा धनुष काटकर तुम्हें पराजित कर दिया; फिर भी तुम उनकी ओरसे निरपेक्ष हो रहे हो। अपने सगे भाइयोंको छोड़कर कहाँ जाओगे? यह कायदा तुम्हारे अनुरूप नहीं है

Transliteration

nikṛttacāpaḥ samare ’napekṣaḥ parājitaḥ śāntanavena cājau | vihāya bandhūn atha sodarāṁś ca kva yāsyase nānurūpaṁ tavedaṁ ||

Translation

Sañjaya disse: “Na batalha, o filho de Śantanu (Bhīṣma) cortou o teu arco e te derrotou em combate; e, no entanto, agora ages como se fosses indiferente a ele. Abandonando os teus—até mesmo os teus próprios irmãos—para onde irás? Tal conduta não é digna de ti.”
