आसीत् किलकिलाशब्दस्तलशड्खरवै: सह । जज्षिरे सिंहनादाश्न शूराणां प्रतिगर्जताम्,तल और शंखोंकी ध्वनिके साथ सैनिकोंका किलकिल शब्द गूँज उठा। एक-दूसरेके प्रति गर्जना करनेवाले शूरवीरोंके सिंहनाद होने लगे
āsīt kilakilāśabdas talaśaṅkharavaiḥ saha | jajñire siṃhanādāś ca śūrāṇāṃ pratigarjatām ||
Junto ao estrondo dos tambores de mão e ao toque das conchas, ergueu-se um clamor tumultuoso. E, enquanto os bravos rugiam uns contra os outros, soaram seus brados de batalha, como rugidos de leões.
संजय उवाच
The verse primarily builds the ethical atmosphere of impending conflict: collective excitement and aggressive pride can swell into a force that drives people toward violence. It implicitly cautions that war is not only weapons but also the contagious psychology of rivalry and provocation.
Sañjaya describes the battlefield soundscape: drums and conches resound, soldiers shout, and warriors exchange roaring challenges, producing lion-like cries that signal the armies’ readiness to engage.
