विद्रवद्धिश्व बहुधा बलै राज्ञां समन््ततः । किरीटधारी अर्जुनके बाणोंसे पीड़ित हो रथी अपने ध्वजोंके साथ ही पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़े
vidravaddhiśva bahudhā balai rājñāṁ samantataḥ | kirīṭadhārī arjunakasya bāṇaiḥ pīḍitā rathinaḥ sva-dhvajaiḥ sahaiva pṛthivīṁ nipetuḥ, aśvārūḍhā aśvaiḥ sahaiva dharāśāyino 'bhavan, gaja-sahitā gajārūḍhā api vyadhvaṁsan | arjunasya bhujābhyāṁ cyutaiḥ śaraiś ca, aneka-bhāgeṣu vibhaktāḥ sarvato dhāvantyaś ca rājñāṁ senāḥ, tatra pṛthivīṁ vyāpṇuvanti sma ||
Disse Sañjaya: Os exércitos dos reis romperam-se e fugiram em muitas direções, por todos os lados. Atormentados pelas flechas de Arjuna, o portador do diadema, os guerreiros dos carros tombaram à terra com seus estandartes; os cavaleiros caíram com seus cavalos; e os condutores de elefantes ruíram com seus elefantes. As setas lançadas dos braços de Arjuna despedaçavam corpos e formações em muitas partes; as forças reais, dispersas, corriam em todas as direções, e todo o chão ali parecia cheio e coberto pela debandada.
