सा छिन्ना बहुधा राजन् द्रोणचापच्युतैः शरै: । चूर्णीकृता विशीर्यन्ती पपात वसुधातले
sā chinnā bahudhā rājan droṇacāpacyutaiḥ śaraiḥ | cūrṇīkṛtā viśīryantī papāta vasudhātale ||
Sañjaya disse: Ó Rei, aquela maça, cortada em muitos pedaços pelas flechas disparadas do arco de Droṇa, foi reduzida a pó; desfazendo-se e espalhando-se, caiu sobre a superfície da terra. A cena ressalta a eficiência implacável da perícia marcial na guerra, em que até uma arma formidável é tornada inútil, lembrando a fragilidade do poder e as rápidas reviravoltas que a violência traz.
