Adhyāya 90: Babhruvāhana’s Reception and the Commencement of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Aśvamedha

ब्राह्मणास्तपसा युक्ता यथाशक्ति प्रदायिन: । “उस स्वर्गद्वारकी जो अर्गला (किल्ली) है

brāhmaṇās tapasā yuktā yathāśakti pradāyinaḥ |

Disse o sogro: “Aqueles brāhmaṇas, disciplinados pela austeridade e que dão em caridade conforme a sua capacidade, são os que podem realmente perceber o ‘portal do céu’. Sua tranca é forjada da semente da cobiça, e o portal está oculto pelo apego; por isso entrar nele é dificílimo. Só brāhmaṇas ascetas—que venceram a ira, dominaram os sentidos e dão conforme podem—podem sequer contemplar esse portal.”
