अध्याय ९ — धृतराष्ट्रस्य युधिष्ठिरं प्रति राजनित्युपदेशः
Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Counsel on Royal Policy to Yudhiṣṭhira
पाल्यमाना धृतिमता सुखं विन्दामहे नूप । “नरेश्वर! भगवान् करें कि बुद्धिमान् कुन्तीकुमार राजा युधिष्छिर धैर्यपूर्वक सहस्रों वर्षतक हमारा पालन करें और हम इनके राज्यमें सुखसे रहें
pālyamānā dhṛtimatā sukhaṃ vindāmahe nṛpa | nareśvara bhagavān karotu yat buddhimān kuntīkumararājā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ dhairyapūrvakaṃ sahasrāṇi varṣāṇi asmākaṃ pālanaṃ kuryāt, vayaṃ cāsya rājye sukhenāvasema ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Protegidos pelo rei constante, ó governante, vivemos com conforto. Que o Senhor assim determine, ó rei dos homens: que o sábio Yudhiṣṭhira, filho de Kuntī, com paciência e firmeza, nos sustente por milhares de anos, e que habitemos felizes em seu reino.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights rājadharma: a king’s steadfast, patient governance is meant to protect and sustain the people, enabling social well-being; it also frames political stability as supported by divine providence.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, the speakers express gratitude for being protected under a resolute ruler and voice a blessing that King Yudhiṣṭhira—Kuntī’s wise son—will continue to govern and care for them for a very long time so they may live happily in his kingdom.
