Puṣkara-Śapatha Itihāsa (Agastya–Indra Dispute at the Tīrthas) | पुष्कर-शपथ-आख्यानम्
शुनःसख उवाच एभिरुक्तं यथा नाम नाहं वक्तुमिहोत्सहे । शुन:ः:सखसखायं मां यातुधान्युपधारय
śunaḥsakha uvāca | ebhir uktaṃ yathā nāma nāhaṃ vaktum ihotsahe | śunaḥsakhasakhāyaṃ māṃ yātudhāny upadhāraya ||
Śunaḥsakha disse: “Assim como foi dito por estes (outros), não me sinto capaz de falar disso aqui. Considera-me companheiro de Śunaḥsakha—mas toma nota de que estou associado à yātudhānī (um ser demoníaco, semelhante a uma feiticeira).”
शुनःसख उवाच
The verse highlights restraint and self-awareness in speech: when one feels unfit or unwilling to speak on a matter, one should refrain, while also acknowledging how one may be perceived through associations.
Śunaḥsakha responds by declining to elaborate further, saying he does not feel capable of speaking here, and asks the listener to regard him in relation to Śunaḥsakha while also noting his connection with a yātudhānī (a demonic/witch-like figure).
