Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa

Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results

स हि नैव सम देवानां नासुराणां न रक्षसाम्‌ । वध्य: स्यामिति जग्राह वरं त्वत्त: पितामह,पितामह! उसने आपसे यह वरदान प्राप्त कर लिया है कि देवताओं, असुरों तथा राक्षसोंमेंसे किसीके हाथसे भी मारा न जाऊँ

sa hi naiva sama devānāṁ nāsurāṇāṁ na rakṣasām | vadhyaḥ syām iti jagrāha varaṁ tvattaḥ pitāmaha, pitāmaha |

Bhishma disse: “Ó Avô venerável (Pitāmaha), ele obteve de ti esta dádiva: ‘Que eu não seja morto por nenhum dos deuses, nem pelos asuras, nem pelos rakshasas.’”
