Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
यस्तु संजनयित्वाग्निमादित्योदयन प्रति । दद्याद् वै व्रतमुद्दिश्य सर्वकामान् समश्चुते
yas tu sañjanayitvāgnim ādityodayana prati | dadyād vai vratam uddiśya sarvakāmān samaśnute ||
Vasiṣṭha disse: Quem acende o fogo sagrado ao nascer do sol, voltado para o Sol que se ergue, e doa ouro com a intenção de cumprir um voto, alcança a realização de todos os fins desejados.
वसिष्ठ उवाच
The verse teaches that disciplined observance—kindling the sacred fire at sunrise while oriented to the Sun—and giving gold as an act connected to a vow, yields comprehensive fulfillment of aims. It emphasizes intention (vrata-saṅkalpa) and generosity (dāna) performed at an auspicious time as a dharmic path to prosperity.
Vasiṣṭha is instructing about the fruits of specific dharmic practices. He describes a ritual act performed at sunrise—kindling fire and making a gold donation with a vow in mind—and states the promised result: attainment of all desired objectives.
