गुरुशुश्रूषया शूरा: पितृशुश्रूषयापरे | मातृशुश्रूषया शूरा भैक्ष्यशूरास्तथापरे
bhīṣma uvāca |
guruśuśrūṣayā śūrāḥ pitṛśuśrūṣayāpare |
mātṛśuśrūṣayā śūrā bhaiṣyaśūrās tathāpare ||
Bhishma disse: “Alguns são chamados heróis por seu serviço devotado ao mestre; outros, por servirem ao pai. Alguns manifestam seu valor ao servir a mãe, e outros ainda são ‘heróis’ por viverem de esmolas. Assim, o heroísmo não se vê apenas no campo de batalha, mas também em formas disciplinadas de conduta, de dever e de autocontrole.”
