Tīrtha-vaṃśa Upadeśa: Instruction on the Fruits of Sacred Waters
दूतसंव्यवहाराश्व निष्परीक्षाश्व मानवा: । प्राणिहिंसाप्रवृत्ता श्व ते वै निरयगामिन:
dūtasaṁvyavahārāś ca niṣparīkṣāś ca mānavāḥ | prāṇihiṁsāpravṛttāś ca te vai nirayagāminaḥ ||
Disse Bhishma: Aqueles homens que assumem o ofício de mensageiros sem discernimento—incapazes de examinar devidamente uma pessoa ou uma situação—e que se ocupam continuamente em ferir seres vivos, sem dúvida ficam destinados ao inferno. O verso adverte que funções públicas como a diplomacia ou a mediação exigem escrutínio moral e não violência; quando exercidas com imprudência e crueldade, levam a uma grave queda ética.
