Bhishma emphasizes the purifying power of remembering and reciting revered names—especially of gods and perfected sages—presenting sacred remembrance as a dharmic means for moral cleansing and release from sin.
Bhishma, continuing his instruction, announces that after mentioning the gods he will now enumerate the beloved names of Brahmarishis renowned for ascetic accomplishment, describing them as capable of freeing one from all sins.
