वृद्धानां भारतप्तानां स्त्रीणां चक्रधरस्य च । ब्राह्मणानां गवां राज्ञां पन्थानं ददते च ये
vṛddhānāṃ bhārataptānāṃ strīṇāṃ cakradharasya ca | brāhmaṇānāṃ gavāṃ rājñāṃ panthānaṃ dadate ca ye ||
Bhishma disse: “Aqueles que, com respeito, cedem passagem aos idosos, aos que carregam fardos pesados, às mulheres, a quem leva uma roda (condutor de carroça ou cocheiro), e igualmente aos brâmanes, às vacas e aos reis, devem ser tidos por virtuosos e bem-comportados. O ensinamento enfatiza a cortesia pública como expressão concreta do dharma: honrar os vulneráveis, os socialmente reverenciados e os que cumprem deveres essenciais.”
