तथा श्वेतं च राजर्षि कीर्तयेत् परमद्युतिम् । सगरस्यात्मजा येन प्लावितास्तारितास्तथा
tathā śvetaṃ ca rājarṣi kīrtayet paramadyutim | sagarasyātmajā yena plāvitās tāritās tathā ||
Bhishma disse: “Do mesmo modo, ó sábio régio, deve-se recitar e lembrar o supremo e radiante Śveta. E deve-se também celebrar o poderoso sábio régio Bhagiratha, por quem os filhos de Sagara foram banhados nas águas do Gaṅgā e assim foram libertos.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse commends kīrtana and smaraṇa—praising and remembering exemplary figures—especially those whose tapas and righteous action bring welfare to others, even across generations (as Bhagiratha’s act benefits Sagara’s sons).
Bhishma instructs the listener to include Śveta and Bhagiratha in recitation and remembrance. Bhagiratha is recalled for securing the Gaṅgā’s waters so that Sagara’s sons could be ritually purified and thereby ‘delivered’ from their afflicted state.
