विहायसगतिर्ज्योति: सुरुचि तभुग् विभु: । रविर्विरोचन: सूर्य: सविता रविलोचन:
vihāyasagatir jyotiḥ suruciḥ hutabhuk vibhuḥ | ravir virocanaḥ sūryaḥ savitā ravilocanaḥ ||
Disse Bhīṣma: Ele é aquele cujo curso atravessa o céu, luz auto-luminosa, de bela radiância; o devorador das oblações (como Fogo), o onipenetrante. Ele é Ravi, o Sol que absorve as essências; Virocana, o que espalha a luz de muitos modos; Sūrya, o revelador do esplendor; Savitṛ, o impulsionador e progenitor do cosmos; e aquele cujos olhos são o Sol.
